About Dr. Vaughan
A native of Pittsburgh, Dr. Helena Vaughan attended Saint Vincent College for her undergraduate degree and received her Ph.D. in School Psychology at the University of Maryland, College Park. Dr. Vaughan completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Baltimore at the Kennedy Krieger Institute Behavior Management Clinic, where she also worked as a staff psychologist following the completion of her fellowship.
During her time at the Kennedy Krieger Institute, Dr. Vaughan received extensive training in treatment of disruptive behavior. In particular, Dr. Vaughan is experienced in treating ADHD and related disorders in young children. She is certified to provide the Developing Our Children’s Skills K-5 ADHD (DOCS ADHD) parent group, which provides parents with a framework for addressing challenging child behavior. Additionally, Dr. Vaughan is a Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) certified therapist, which is a therapy modality in which therapists coach parents to use strategies which strengthen the parent-child relationship while also decreasing problem behavior.
Dr. Vaughan is also particularly passionate about the treatment of anxiety disorders such as Selective Mutism, an anxiety disorder which can make it challenging for children to speak in social settings.
